PINTS FOR PUPS
'BREW & QUE' BLOCK PARTY & BBQ COOK OFF
The Saturday of Labor Day weekend, join us for one of the biggest parties in Mason County. We close off the street for a live BBQ cook off, a beer garden hosted by Hale's Ales, games, activities and entertainment. Brave competitors show off their smoke skills to compete for the coveted Grand Champion award. And samples are provided at no charge as teams vie for the People's Choice award. This is an all ages event. Proceeds from the Cook Off and $1 of every pint sold benefit the HOST Program of Mason County, helping homeless students find the resources and assistance they need to successfully earn their high school diploma. We are always on the hunt for sponsors and cook off competitors. Please contact us for more information, and learn how you can be a part of big fun for a great cause.
Every Spring, we empty out the whole restaurant and bring in an assortment of casino table games and real deal dealers. Every Casino Night is a different theme. We welcome full costumes, and we prepare a whole evening's worth of tasty treats as we go down a culinary adventure from the Roaring 20's to the Wild Wild West to a stroll down Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras. 100% of the profits from the event go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. To help us pay for the cost of the casino service, we welcome sponsors. Please contact Mo if you are able and interested in helping us make this event an annual success.
Rent a Mug for $5. The entire $5 will be donated to Adopt a Pet of Mason County. Our mugs are 24oz, so for the price of a pint plus your rental fee you’re getting a beer and a half while making a big difference for animals in need. Plus you can drink like a pirate! We only charge one rental fee per visit, so you can enjoy the mug throughout your whole meal.
Every month we welcome one of our favorite breweries to showcase their delicious brews. Normally, we highlight a specific program or organization in need during the event, and we donate $1 of every pint we sell. Watch Facebook for this month's featured brewery and who we're raising a pint for.
Every November and December we host a special Tap Takeover to raise money to purchase every ingredient needed for a complete holiday dinner for each of the residents living at the Crossroads Family Housing shelter. Because we believe that everyone deserves a home cooked meal for the holidays.
In 2006, we packed everything we owned and moved across the country to a new and exciting place. We had no idea what to expect, but the Pacific Northwest called to us, and with the hopes of one day owning our own bbq restaurant, off we went. At first we knew nobody here, but within only a few short months Shelton began to feel more like home than any other place we had ever lived. As Tom says, roots grew from our feet and we knew, we were never leaving. In 2007, encouraged by a huge support system of new friends and colleagues, we opened Smoking Mo's. We started small, a tiny take out joint in a hidden alley. But this community did what Shelton does best, they embraced us as family and offered constant support that new naive business owners with big dreams needed to keep our doors open. We are eternally grateful for the love and kindness this town has shown us, and so we are committed to paying it forward. It's the right thing to do.
It takes a village, my friends. Together, we all succeed. So please, help us keep the positivity moving forward.
Here are a few of the events and programs we are proud to support at Smoking Mo's. Watch our Facebook page for upcoming ways you can help.
Sincerely, Tom and Mo Beben
